Milonga Ideal, October edition/Tango Spa update/ etc
This week is Milonga Ideal week. Luis & Elizabeth's classes plus practica at St Mary's return on Friday 8th, with emphasis on milonga after the Fundamentals class. Space practicas continue on Wednesdays, 8.15 pm to 10.15 pm, totally informal & welcoming as always.
Tango Spa (27th-29th October) booking is going on apace: Royal Spa passes and Maxi 2 passes will almost certainly no longer be available by the end of this week.
Good news: we have permission to continue until 23.30 on the Friday night (as originally advertised) after all. Sorry for spreading despondency last week. We must get out quickly & quietly though so as not to wake anybody; maybe Ricardo Oria can substitute a tango lullaby for the Cumparsita. You are welcome to make up for all this quietness when you leave after the Saturday Ball or Sunday Twilight milonga.
Reminder: any payments at the door will be cash only, online booking finishes on Monday 23rd October.
See our web pages: https://tangowarwick.org for details of the above.
Milonga Ideal October edition, Friday 6th October.
Tango Warwick invites you to enjoy and enhance the October edition of their monthly milonga.
For this "season of mists and mellow fruitfulness” we will be welcoming Davide Baldanza as our DJ. He is now well known to many of us locally, but for more about him see below*
We will be at home in Warwick SPACE. It is a large room with a decent floor, in a space reminiscent of Buenos Aires' Sunderland Club (some say), and with great acoustics. (see https://youtu.be/DXSYRjzcjpQ)
There will be some nibbles, soft drinks, fine cordials and wine for early arrivers, but BYOB if you wish.
It will be the friendly, joyful, and lively milonga tango dancers have come to love. Above all there will be a warm welcome for visitors, regulars, and once regulars, alike.
TIME: Friday 6th October, 8pm-midnight.
PLACE: Warwick SPACE, 71 Coten End, Warwick CV34 4NU.
COST (Cash at door only) : £12 (£8 for students with student card). IN CASH. Prebooking not required.
WARWICK SPACE is on the north side of the main road north of the river between Leamington and Warwick; next to the Black Pug pub, aka Millwright Arms, and almost opposite a Sainsbury local. It is a short walk from Warwick Railway Station, and not far from M40 and A46. There are several hotels & B&B's nearby in this tourist area. The Castle Limes Hotel is a few minutes away. The Jephson in Leamington is about 1.3 miles away. Some swear by its breakfast. You can now even stay in Warwick Castle grounds.
PARKING is mostly on road, especially towards Warwick on the main road or Smith Street (one way, going East), on back streets (not very easy), or towards Warwick station. The St Nicholas Park car park is about 10 minutes walk away but you probably could do with a torch on the way back.
HEALTH PRECAUTIONS If you think you may have been infected with covid please take a test. If a test is positive or you are feeling unwell please stay away, especially if you think it may only be the flu!
* Davide Baldanza studied dance and music from an early age. After his academic studies in musical composition and piano and in classical and contemporary dance he discovers tango and immediately realises that music is the fundamental basis for understanding the dance gesture. So he dedicates a part of his journey as a performer to the deep study of Tango music, from its origins to electronic tango. This leads to him working as a TangoDJ in various milongas in Italy, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Greece and other countries in which he was also invited for his activity as a teacher and performer.
