GETTING HERE:
We are in the geographical centre of England, with very good national and international communications.
By air: the nearest airport is Birmingham Airport, about 30 mins by train; the most convenient London airports are Luton and Heathrow; East Midlands can be useful but is not easy to get to without a car.
By train: from London Marylebone, 90 minutes to 1hr 45 mins; from Bath, 2hours 15mins or more; from Manchester, about 2 hours 30 minutes; from York, around 3 hours; from Edinburgh, 5 hours or more; from Paris, about 6 hours.
By bus: see https://www.traveline.info/, cheaper than train but usually slower.
By car: We are easily connected to the main cross country routes, M40 and A46 touch Warwick respectively connecting to London, Oxford, and south, and to M6 to the NW and N Wales and to M1 to the NE or SE , with A14 to Cambridge and east, and M5 to the the SW and South Wales. The A46 goes past Stratford and the Cotswolds, and Evesham to Cheltenham and beyond. The delightful Fosse Way passes close by.\
Details for each day:
Friday: St Nicholas’ Church in Warwick, CV34 4JD.
St Nicholas’ Church is down the hill beside the castle wall on the east side of Warwick, opposite the castle gates by the roundabout, adjacent to the vast St Nicholas car park. It is a short walk from Warwick Railway Station. There is NOT general parking in the church grounds.
COMING FROM LEAMINGTON: It is 10-20 minutes drive from Leamington, (or a pleasant 40 minutes walk along the river) in good conditions, but about 5 pm to 6 pm there is likely to be heavy traffic on the Leamington to Warwick roads so it could take 30 minutes or more. It might be safest to come on the Myton Rd, A425, south of the river if coming from Leamington.
Traffic COMING THROUGH WARWICK will be complicated by the Warwick Mop which takes place this weekend and closes down the market square and nearby streets. This should not be much of a problem.
COMING FROM THE SOUTH into Warwick, easiest parking is on the right just after the bridge.Saturday & Sunday Workshops: North Hall, Spencer Yard CV31 3SY.
PLEASE NOTE THAT LEAMINGTON IS A BUSY TOWN WITH ROADS OFTEN CONGESTED AND LEAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO GET TO YOUR WORKSHOP
North Hall is a first floor in Spencer Yard. Get there from Spencer Street. Look out for The Assembly on the South side of Spencer Street, and the large colonnaded ex-church on the North side. The small road labelled Spencer Yard is to the right of the ex-church. Go into it , preferably walking, past rubbish bins, then left and into large piazza with modern entrance to Motion House/ Heartbreak Productions in one corner. There is a smaller door at the nearer corner. Go in there. The North Hall is upstairs and part of Heartbreak productions. DO NOT PARK OR DRIVE IN THE PIAZZA!! it may break up.
Alternatively there is a gate to the left of the colonnaded ex-church. If open go through into the piazza..
From North Hall you can see the Pump Rooms, very close, but on the North Side of the river. Going to the Loft theatre will not help you to get to either place!Saturday & Sunday dance: The Royal Pump Rooms, & Conservatory CV32 4AA.
These are in the same building, and share it with a museum, art gallery, and cafe. It is by the river, on the North side, just before the bridge if coming from the Parade, the central road of Leamington, with north part closed on Sunday morning and afternoon for a market . It is fairly small building adjacent to the gardens and band stand; our entrance is at the south end of the colonnaded face.
Tourism etc
There are loads of restaurants, pubs etc in Leamington and Warwick, near the venues ; eg Smith Street or the Market Square (noisy this Friday!) in Warwick and Regent Street or near the Parade in Leamington.
The Ukrainian cafe Church just across the road from the Pump Rooms is worth a try.
Just out of town is the scenic Saxon Mill, CV34 5YN.
Warwick Castle needs half a day to make up for the cost.
A quick favourite in Warwick is https://www.visitwarwick.co.uk/the-mill-garden/ with good views of the castle.
In Leamington the Jephson Gardens near the Pump Rooms are worth a dawdle round.
Stratford is 30 minutes drive away.
