Milonga Ideal, Friday 2nd Feb / Diary
It's Candlemas on Friday: the end of the dark days; time for a milonga in other words, and a good one at that:
Milonga Ideal (Candlemas edition) Friday 2nd February. DJ Diego Doigneau.
TANGO WARWICK invites you to enjoy and enhance the 2024 Candlemas edition of its monthly milonga. Diego Doigneau will return as guest DJ to make sure you do enjoy it to the very last moment.
Candlemas is the time to joyfully celebrate the returning of light. It's time to take down your mistletoe and holly; Christmas is properly over and we look forward to an exciting year as it starts to reveal itself. It's the obvious time to join in a great milonga, and Diego the obvious DJ to make our February edition fit that bill. Do come if you can!
We will be at home in Warwick SPACE. It is a large room with a decent floor, in a space reminiscent of Buenos Aires' Sunderland Club (some say), and with great acoustics. (And now with heating repaired.)
There will be some nibbles, soft drinks, fine cordials and wine for early arrivers, but BYOB if you wish.
We encourage good tango, nice ronda, and cabeceo.
Above all there will be a warm welcome for visitors, regulars, and once regulars, alike. Quoting a distinguished tanguero "a lovely milonga with a barrio feel, very good and friendly social dancers and a fluid ronda."
TIME: Friday February 2nd , 8pm-midnight.
PLACE: Warwick SPACE, 71 Coten End, Warwick CV34 4NU.
COST (Cash at door only) : £12 (£8 for students with student card). IN CASH. Prebooking not required.
WARWICK SPACE is on the north side of the main road north of the river between Leamington and Warwick; next to the Black Pug pub, aka Millwright Arms, and almost opposite a Sainsbury local. It is a short walk from Warwick Railway Station, and not far from M40 and A46. There are several hotels and B&B's nearby in this tourist area. The Castle Limes Hotel is a few minutes away. The Jephson in Leamington is about 1.3 miles away. Some swear by its breakfast. You can now even stay in Warwick Castle grounds.
PARKING is mostly on road, especially towards Warwick on the main road or Smith Street (one way, going East), on back streets (not very easy), or towards Warwick station. The St Nicholas Park car park is about 10 minutes walk away but you probably could do with a torch on the way back.
HEALTH PRECAUTIONS If you think you may be infectious please stay away, especially if you think it may only be the flu!
